Division C Grand Final - AUTC Delta versus Red Hot Chillis

It's been an excellent season for AUTC Delta, with the team receiving a
promotion from D grade early in the winter competition and confidently
maintaining top position on the C grade ladder from there on. Following a  6
- 1 shellacking of Kaos - Club FC in the semis, AUTC Delta faced the formidable Red Hot Chillis in the Grand Final - the only team to have really challenged Delta's dominance throughout the season.

AUTC Delta performed close to their best in the Grand Final, with all players keeping their cool under pressure and working as a team to edge out the Chillis 4 - 3, a very satisfying win!

Not content with taking out the Thursday night Div C competition, AUTC Delta will be returning this Thursday (23rd @ 6:30pm) to take on the winners of the Wednesday night Div C competition.

Congratulations to the team on what has been an outstanding season and a very well-deserved Grand Final victory.

 AUTC C – Men’s

The men’s C team comprised many players who were new to touch but came from a rugby background.  This made it quite interesting to coach and watch from the sidelines.  Some of the dumps actually looked like the boys were going to pack a scrum and some touches verged on being a tackle…

Overall the boys played well.  From a coaching perspective, after every half-time talk the guys took on board what was said and always improved in the latter half.

The road to the finals was always going to be tough when after finishing fourth on the ladder.  The boys had to play the top team who had only lost 1 game all season.  With solid rucking and sliding defense, the boys took this team to a drop off and came away with an incredible win especially with only 7 players for the game.

The grand final was a similar story and even more hard fought.  We had players force-subbed on both sides due to hard touches and lots of back chat to the ref.  Nathan made a couple of really good breaks off some solid rucking but couldn't quite out-run the defenders.

After 40 minutes of touch yet: another drop off.  After a lot of effort the boys couldn't hold out the attack of their opponents scores came out of better line awareness.  It was great to coach and watch a relatively new side make the grand finals in drop off style.
