AUTC A

Game 1 vs AUTC B = 5-3 our way

Game 2 vs Dodgers = 5-2 our way

Scoring significantly fewer touchdowns than to be expected, the As managed to scrape by with a couple more wins this week.  Down to just 2 girls again, Tahls and Jo did a tremendous job for the entire 40 minutes.  Tahls put down a particularly impressive score just seconds before the end of the first game.  Defensively things will have to step up a notch next week to avoid the narrow winning margins becoming even narrower.  There were plenty of opportunities for more scoring, ball retention was a killer with the decision to force the extra pass coming too often.  Let's hope for a more settled couple of games next week.

Touchdowns: Latch (1), Roola (2), Marty (2), Tahlia (2), Jo (2), DJ (1)

AUTC B

1st Game  AUTC B 3 vs AUTC A 5
Significant improvement over 3 weeks before. OK so the As won but the
Bs looked like a good team, played as a team and had a good
competitive game.
Scores:
Shane off Paul, good gap hitting by whole team provided the opportunity.
Paul dancing around Latchie
Brett out running Latchie, OK Latch did start from 2 positions off
the ball but he obviously didn't have his carrots before the game.

2nd game AUTC B 1 vs FU ?? More than 1
Good start but things slowed down in the middle from the good game play
shown in the 1st game.
Scores:
Richard, thanks to a good half run by Shane after some buddies where
apparently they couldn't work out who was going to do the half run.

AUTC C - Game 9

Uni SA Emus got the better of AUTC C this week. As with previous weeks the team showed plenty of promise but failed to convert. Girls all played a solid game. Excellent work from DY and Craig in playing the team game.
Best: (M) Adam Potter, (F) Chantal Hadchiti. Touchdowns: Craig Thompson (1). Final result: Loss (1 – 3).

AUTC C - Game 10

AUTC C were clearly outmatched by Kwak Attack and helped to add to their unbeaten 1650% final ladder position with a convincing loss. Despite the considerable margin for what was only a 20 minute game, the team played well and handled the pressure impressively. Excellent leadership from Adam and DY and impressive defensive scramble from Qin. Solid game from both Emma and Sarosh. Congratulations to the team for their posivitivity throughout the game (including DY who scored several stitches to his ear).
Best: (M) Adam Potter, (F) Qin Chen. Final result: Loss (0 - 8).

AUTC Creams (D)

Game 1: vs AUTC E = 5-0 our way
Game 2: UNISA forfeit = 4-0 our way

Last night saw another showdown between AUTC D and E. We had the full fleet out to play again last night after a couple of weeks with minimal subs. The rucking suffered a little under the distraction of subbing, but we had a few great runs down the field, getting it to our line in only 3 touches. The girls were really getting into the rucking this week and made some great ground. Our aim for the game was no scores around the outside and not only was that achieved but exceptional sliding defence kept the Es from scoring at all. There were a couple of hairy moments when an E slipped through a gap but quick action from Nick Pett shut that down.

The team learnt the meaning of ‘falcon’ when Rachel tried to catch the ball with her face – I think she’ll stick to the tried and true ‘catching with your hands’ method in the future. There was a great spread in the scoring this week with 4 different players chalking up tries. The line attack was pretty bunched this week which limited the scoring opportunities. The scores came when people stayed wide and hit their outside gaps and, most importantly, passed the ball out early.

Our tremendous performance in the first game must have sent UNISA running scared as only half their team turned up at the field. They chose to forfeit, giving us a 4-0 win, but I’m sure we could have taken them for more than that in a game!  We played a scratchy, giving us a chance to practice staying wide near the line.  There was a perfect example of the preferred line attack method from Andrew and Joanne. Andrew hit his gap, drew in the link and wing and then popped it out to Joanne who was wide on the wing, hitting her gap.  Lovely.  Special mention for Nick Purdam who was working hard on the line and hit his gaps well – scored himself a great one by stepping back in on his wing and walking it over the line.   Unfortunately scores in the forfeited games don't count for the tally... :(

Best: Jennifer Grigo, for excellent defence in the link.
Try scorers: Chris Rawbone-Vilijoen (2), Andrew Cannella (1), Sam Schmidt (1), Caleb Lilley (1)

AUTC E

Game 1: Oil Blacks (5) def AUTC E (4)
This is the 9th time we have come up against the Oil-Blacks.  No doubt we will be playing them again in the finals.  We had some really dangerous attacking moves and were unlucky not to score a few more touchdowns.

Scorers: Joel (2), David (1), Chrissy (1)
Best Player: Joel

Game 2: AUTC D (5) def AUTC E (0)

This is the second time the E's have come up against the D's with a 3 touchdown improvement.  Sticking to this trend it would only take 2 more games before we won, so lucky for the D's the season is almost over.  Joel and James played pretty well despite being scuffed up after failing to climb a tree.  Much improved defense protecting the wings and Kathleen and Chrissy both looked the goods in their new AUTC tops.

Best players: pi and David
