AUTC A
Despite the entire team being unsettled by Latchys convention defying Tuxedo/ Cardigan/ Smoking Jacket hybrid that he was milling around in before the games, AUTC A maintained their unbeaten record with a 6-1 scoreline in the first game and a 5-2 scoreline in the second. Tempted, in both games, by some gaps in the defence to attack a little too early in the touch count the team occasionally faltered but once playing its team game got the defence on the back foot and opened up the gaps to score. Defensively the team communicated well but its failure to maintain a clean sheet could serve as a warning against complacency for future games.
Game one tally: Roola 1, Latchy 2, Ninh 1, Marty 2 (Ricky could have had one if his field had been the same length as everyone elses.) How Embarrassment Awards to Ninh for telling Roola to 'Attack the Old Lady' and to Roola for.. 'attacking the old lady'. Roola played the odds to score his try- in that he passed up an 80% chance of the team scoring by passing it to the wing to capitalise on a 6.7% chance of scoring himself by hanging on and sneaking through a barely discernible gap.
Game two tally: Roola 2, Latchy 1, Ninh 1, DJ 1, Marty 1. Post game the team told Deej to have a sit down in the room of mirrors and have a good long hard look at himself for his act of unbridled selfishness in scoring a try himself rather than just working hard and making the gaps for everyone else. Next he'll be targeting 'the old lady'.. Latchy busted through the defence and powered to the tryline to put the ball down- despite being half- he must've figured that Bec and Ricky ran the whole way with him in support cos the team ethic is just that strong in AUTC A. Given that he is writing this- Marty's failure to score himself a second try in game two will be attributed to a poor quality pass from Ninh rather than anything as unflattering as the truth. Post game two the team rubbed salt in the wounds by pitching their fastest player (Latchy watched from the sideline) in a sprint-off with a couple of the kids of the players from the opposing team. The aforementioned 'jet-heeled whippet' proceeded to make one of the children cry with a display of the teams 'win at all costs' policy by distracting the Rug Rat then jumping the start gun.

AUTC C
Game 5
This week's first game saw AUTC C defeat a struggling UNI SA side. The team played solid defence to shut down the ineffective "tuck-the-ball-under-the-arm-
Best: (M) Adam Potter, (F) Ainslie Derrick Roberts. Touchdowns: Ainslie Derrick Roberts (2), Adam Potter (2), Paul Smith (2), Simon Derrick Roberts (1). Final result: Ass-kicking (7 – 0).
Game 6
AUTC C remained in Pool 2 following the completion of Game 5, and played its second game this season against Can't Catch Patch (Previously drew in Game 2). The team had clearly improved since the last meeting and created several excellent scoring opportunities through intelligent teamwork, although unfortunately failing to capitalise on a few these due to fumbles close to the line. Excellent on-field leadership through Adam and DY kept the team together for the length of the game. The 2 scores to the opposition is demonstration that the team is still capable of switching off in defense. Congratulations to Sarosh on a brilliant first two games with the team, fitting in on the field through strong communication. A satisfying win!
Best: (M) Adam Potter, (F) Chantal Hadchiti. Touchdowns: Paul Smith (2), Adam Potter (1). Final result: Win (3 – 2).

AUTC D
We came up against not one, not two, but THREE teams this week. I could tell you who they were if there was any semblance of useful information on the City Touch website regarding the draw or team names. Or, indeed, if I had been able to remember pen and paper.
After a couple of losses last week we were keen to get the winning happening again. In the first game the focus was on getting the rucking going, this worked really well with the team coming together to get the ball up the field very well. Defensively the team did fabulously with people sliding left and right at the appropriate times and helping each other out when beaten. A real team win for us!
AUTC E (this week the letter E stands for Energy)
Game 1
Played: The Nob Below
This was a close match with the opposition only scoring in the last minute of the game. We saw great improvements from all in both attack and defence. The talk from the whole team was a little quite so somewhere to focus on for the next few games.
Result: lost 0 - 1
Best: John Haeusler (very good game in defence)
Touchdowns: NA
Game 2
Played: Oil Blacks
After the first game the focus was on improving talk, maintaining our defence and looking to run off the ball in attack – i.e. hitting your gaps. Chris and I both had games so we missed seeing an impressive 3 – 2 win!! A great intercept from Chrissie, which resulted in a try and a unanimous vote for best player by the team.
Result: 3 – 2 WIN!!!
Best: Chrissie Thompson (great talk and awareness)
Touchdowns: Chrissie, Jole, Dave
Game 3
Played: Oil Blacks
After the regrade our next opposition was again the Oil Blacks. The focus of this game was to again work on talking, get deeper in attack and to run onto the ball. The team did improve the talk, even if they were the only ones who understood their ‘Mmmm… Num Num’ speak. It was great to be able to hear you from the sideline. For the next games look to reduce the overstepping by initiating the touch in attack to gain as much ground as possible. Solid improvement from Dave in this game with defence.
Result: lost 0 - 1
Best: Dave Cartland (nice defence)
Touchdowns: NA

room of mirrors
I tried to visit the room of mirrors but it had been booked out by the Adelaide Crows.
