Mens A Roll On

The Mens A were up against the might of The Blackest Cats, who are a mix of the best of the younger Womens players in the state plus a few male experienced stalwarts. It was a weird game as I think the boys expected to score more easily than they did, looking to score early in the touch count rather than working on the things we had talked about and work on creating a try from multiple touches, rather than a half run or someone snap their opposition one on one.

Our attack and rucking in the first half looked disjointed, with people trying to get that extra few yards by beating a player, only having to bring the ball back to the mark. It appeared that we didnt want to ruck for one another. As well as this in the middle in defence it was like a grave yard... very very very quiet. At half time we weren't up because we were playing well, we were up because generally as a team we have individuals who were beating the other team one on one, Deej with his half running and decision making and Latch with his speed. Finally moments of the second half saw a more consistent team effort, Roolas efforts to get people driving forward for one another showing people how its done and causing us to run through a few easy tries. This is how I would have liked us to have played from the start.

Saying all this the scoreline was 9-2, which looks good, however I know the team felt disappointed with the way they played. This week brings the challenge of playing the Defence Team a team we will need to play a team game against and I am certain we will.
